Gujarat has launched an ambitious investment outreach campaign across 22 countries and eight Indian cities to attract global investors, strengthen industrial partnerships and position the state as a leading destination for emerging technologies ahead of the 11th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit (VGGS) 2027.The summit, themed 'Viksit Gujarat – Shaping Global Future', will be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar from January 10 to 12, 2027. The Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb), the state government's nodal agency, is coordinating the campaign, which will continue through October and November 2026.
The initiative builds on the international outreach launched in August, when Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel led a delegation to the United States and Canada, holding discussions with technology leaders, investors and industry bodies in San Francisco, Washington DC and Toronto. At the summit's curtain-raiser in New Delhi on August 30, Patel said VGGS, initiated under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, had become a symbol of global investor confidence and a platform for knowledge sharing and industrial collaboration."From pioneering new-age technologies to leading future industries, Gujarat is building tomorrow today," Patel said, highlighting the summit's focus on the seven streams of the Prime Minister's Sapta-Dhara vision, including livelihoods, food and energy security, and opportunities for youth.
Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said Gujarat had emerged as a preferred investment destination, with its industrial strengths spanning semiconductors, ports and other key sectors. At a Mumbai roadshow, Patel invited investors to "Come to Gujarat – Grow in Gujarat – Grow with Gujarat."
Global outreach targets key investment markets
The international campaign will cover Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Poland, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Russia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kenya, Tanzania and Mozambique.Delegations will hold sector-specific roundtables and meetings with multinational companies, institutional investors, government agencies and industry associations to attract participation in VGGS 2027 and explore investment opportunities. Roadshows will also be organised in Guwahati, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar and Jaipur.Gujarat's investment pitch combines its strategic coastline, major ports, industrial corridors, Dholera development and GIFT City with a stable policy environment and streamlined clearances. The state is also highlighting opportunities emerging from India's expanding network of Free Trade Agreements to encourage international trade and investment.
Semiconductors, AI and green energy in focus
VGGS 2027 will place particular emphasis on sunrise sectors, including semiconductors, artificial intelligence, fintech, green energy, data centres and space technologies. In semiconductors, Gujarat is building an ecosystem encompassing manufacturing, assembly, testing and packaging. Micron's assembly and test facility and Kaynes Semicon's OSAT unit are among the projects advancing the state's ambitions, while the CC Power-Renesas OSAT project is under way. At Dholera, Tata Electronics is developing a semiconductor fabrication facility in partnership with Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC), with Dutch company ASML identified as an equipment and technology partner.
GIFT City is central to the state's fintech and data centre ambitions. According to the official release, it hosts more than 1,000 entities, employs over 20,000 people and has 38 banks with a combined asset base of USD 100 billion. Its unified regulatory framework, single-window clearances and ready-to-use infrastructure are designed to attract financial services and technology investments. In renewable energy, the Khavda project in Kutch is planned as a 37-GW solar-wind hybrid park spread across more than 72,000 hectares. Once completed, it is expected to generate enough electricity to power nearly 18 million homes. Gujarat's installed renewable energy capacity stood at 52.61 GW, accounting for around 18 per cent of India's total, according to figures cited in the release.Through the summit, the state aims to build on these investments by attracting suppliers, technology partners and skilled talent, creating stronger industrial ecosystems around emerging sectors.
Summit seeks to build on two decades of growth
Launched in 2003 by Narendra Modi, then Chief Minister of Gujarat, the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit has evolved into a major international investment platform. The 10th edition, held in January 2024, attracted more than 61,000 delegates from over 140 countries and featured more than 30 partner countries, according to the official release.
With its expanded international outreach, VGGS 2027 aims to attract fresh investments, strengthen global partnerships and create opportunities across manufacturing, technology and clean energy. The focus will be on translating investor interest into industrial development, employment and sustained economic growth.
