The MP police has arrested a leader of the Interstate cyber extortion gang, who was blackmailing Congress MLA Neeraj Dixit through an objectionable WhatsApp video call and demanding money.According to information Neeraj Dixit ,MLA Maharajpur, District Chhatarpur lodged a complaint on May 22 in Gadhi-Malhera Police station in connection with extortion by an unknown woman making objectionable videos over internet . A FIR was lodged in the police station Gadhi-Malhara. A joint team of the district police and Crime branch was formed under the Gadhi-Malehra Police Station Officer and In-Charge ZY Khan. After putting the phone on surveilance, the police went to Bharatpur in Rajasthan and nabbed the accused Adil.
The accused reportedly admitted the crime and police recovered 3 mobiles from his custody which were, according to police, used by the accused. He used to collect the information of people and their mobile numbers from Facebook. Many times he portray himself as a girl. The accused told the police that he has learned this from a person named Ramzan who belongs to Bharatpur.Ramzan and his team operates an organised racket in which they get fake SIM cards and fake accounts from people of different states mainly Orissa and give them back the 20% of extorted money.The accused has used this Modus operandi of recording and showing objectionable videos and then extorting money from target, Police said. The accused have raised Rs 14 lakh 22 thousand by extorting 21 people so far. These people belong to UP, MP, Punjab, Maharashtra,Karnataka,Haryana and Mumbai.The accused has been arrested by the police and to be produced in the court.
