According to officials, existing MGNREGA job cards and ongoing works will continue during the transition period to ensure uninterrupted employment opportunities for rural households. The rollout of VB–G RAM G is aimed at strengthening livelihood support, enhancing rural infrastructure creation and expanding wage employment opportunities in villages across India.
According to the notification, the scheme seeks to align rural employment generation with the broader vision of “Viksit Bharat” by focusing on sustainable livelihood creation and rural asset development.Government sources said the enhanced 125-day employment guarantee is expected to provide greater financial security to economically weaker rural families, particularly during periods of agricultural distress and seasonal unemployment.
The transition from MGNREGA to the new framework is also expected to include improved implementation mechanisms, digital monitoring systems and enhanced focus on productivity-linked rural works. The Centre said states and district administrations have been directed to ensure a smooth transition before the nationwide rollout begins on July 1.
