Former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif attacked in London

As per reports, former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif was reportedly attacked in London on Saturday. Ahmad Noorani, a reporter with Fact Focus in Pakistan, said on Twitter that Nawaz Sharif was attacked by an activist of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. As per the report, Nawaz Sharif's guard was injured in the attack. This came a day before Pakistan Prime Imran Khan of PTI was to face the crucial vote on the no-confidence motion moved against him by the Opposition.

If the no-confidence motion succeeds, Nawaz Sharif's brother Shehbaz Sharif of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) will be a top contender for the post of prime minister.

Reacting to the incident, Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam said that those of the ruling party who were resorting to violence should be jailed. She said Imran Khan himself should be booked for provocation, incitement and sedition. She wrote, "Those of PTI who resort to violence or create a law and order situation should be arrested and thrown behind bars, IK [Imran Khan] included. IK should be booked for provocation, incitement and sedition. Will be Insha’Allah. None of them should be spared."
