FIFA World Cup:Switzerland beat Cameroon 1-0

Breel Embolo scored the lone goal of the game as Switzerland defeated Cameroon 1-0 in a Group G match between the sides at at Al Janoub Stadium, Al-Wakrah on Thursday. The Swiss forward from Yaounde struck with a right-foot shot in the 48th minute, standing all alone eight meters (yards) out in the middle of the goalmouth to take Xherdan Shaqiri’s low pass. Cameroon’s streak of losses at World Cup finals tournaments extended to eight games dating back to 2002.Cameroon started the game on a dominating note with some really good attack in display. Switzerland too had their chances at the start but none of the sides could score any goal in the first half of the game. However, in the second half, Embolo broke the deadlock with a calm and composed finish from inside the box in the 48th minute.

Embolo did not celebrate the goal as it came against his country of birth. Embolo looked up to the sky in delight but he did not express it on the biggest stage.
