Karnataka govt will recover damages from rioters,Minister Ravi

The Karnataka government on Wednesday said damages suffered in Tuesday night's riots in Bengaluru will be recovered from people who were involved in the riot, Minister CT Ravi said, "The riot was planned. Petrol bombs and stones were used in destruction of property. Over 300 vehicles were burnt. We have suspects but can only confirm after investigation."The minister said the state government has decided to recover the damages from the rioters. "We will do asset recovery from rioters like in Uttar Pradesh," he said. "As per the direction of the Supreme Court to all states, in case of rioting where public property has been damaged, it should be recovered from the persons who have were involved in the rioting. We are identifying the people involved and assessing the damage suffered," he said,

Three people were killed in police firing in Bengaluru and 60 police personnel injured, as violence broke out in the city on Tuesday night over a Facebook post, allegedly by the relative of a Congress MLA. About 100 people have been arrested for violence, stone-throwing and assault on police personnel.

According to CP, Banagaluru, 60 cops, including an Additional Commissioner of Police, were injured while trying to control the violence in the DJ Halli and KG Halli areas. Police said Naveen, whose social media post sparked the vandalism has been arrested, is the nephew of Congress MLA R Akhanda Srinivas Murthy. 

The clashes took place in Bengaluru’s Pulakeshi Nagar area on Tuesday night when he protesters, irked over the Facebok post, vandalised a police station and a Congress legislator’s residence. They hurled bottles and stones at the lawmaker’s house and the policemen. Some of the vehicles parked near the MLA’s house were also damaged. 

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa condemned the attack and said strict action will be taken against the perpetrators of the violence.The Congress MLA had released a video appealing to people to maintain peace. Section 144 has been imposed across Bengaluru after the violence. State home minister B Bommai said that nobody will be allowed to take the law into their own hands. He also added that additional police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order.
