Farooq Shaikh was a superb actor

It's the biggest hit film of 1982.Farooq Shaikh was a superb actor and a self-made man !! 
We grew up watching his films, a very likeable face. His best times as an actor was between 1973-1993. 
His films were very effective and even commercially successful too. Noorie, Gaman, Chasm e Baddoor, Umrao Jaan, Saath Saath, Katha, Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Toofan, Rang Birangi, Lahore etc were his great films. 
He was equally successful on TV and drama. Tumhari Amrita, a stage drama with Shabana Azmi became very popular and famous. 
Makhdoom was a Urdu poet and Marxist political activist, who founded the Progressive Writers Union in Hyderabad. His gazals and lyrics have been used in many Hindi films.
I need not say the brilliance of Khayyam saab in music, his music is incomparable.
