Mumbai to quarantine all passengers coming from South Africa
The Maharashtra government on Saturday issued a fresh set of guidelines making it mandatory for all domestic passengers arriving in the state to either carry a certificate of full vaccination or a negative RT-PCR report not older than 72 hours.Earlier Mayor of Mumbai Kishori Pednekar said that all the passengers coming to the city from South Africa , where the new variant Omicron is currently circulating, will be quarantined. She said the samples of these passengers would be sent for genome sequencing.
On Sunday Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray directed the State administration to take measures without waiting for instructions from the Centre. In a virtual review meeting with Divisional Commissioners and District Collectors,Thackeray asked them to pay close attention to all passengers arriving at airports.Health Minister Rajesh Tope and members of the State Covid -19 task force were also present in the meeting. Officials have been directed that apart from to keeping a watch on airports, they should also ensure adequate oxygen supply and availability of medicines in hospitals.
Uddhav led MVA Government Completes two years
On the occasion of the Maharashtra Vikas Agadi government completing two years in office, CM Thackeray issued a statement asserting that that the government had stood up to “natural and man made disasters” and would continue to do so in the future. Promising to work for the common man, he thanked citizen for their support. CM Thackeray said most part of hisgovernment’s tenure was spent on Covid-19 management and that the MVA succeeded in turning the crisis into opportunity. He said that MVA government worked hard in improving the industrial investment , agriculture , infrastructure, housing , employment, water supply,solar energy , environment, tourism, forest and the focus has been on the welfare of common man. It may be recalled that after the Maharashtra Assembly polls 2019, Thackeray led Shiv Sena parted ways with its ally BJP over the issue of sharing Chief Ministerial post and it forged an alliance with NCP and Congress to form MVA government.
Param Bir Singh appears before Mumbai Police
Former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Sing arrived in the city on Thursday and was questioned by Crime Branch officials in an extortion case registered against him. Singh who flew in from Chandigarh, arrived at the Crime Branch office in Kandivali after11a.mon Monday and left seven hours later. Builder- hotelier Bimal Agrawal had registered a case at Goregaon police station accusing Singh and some other police officials of extorting money from him after threatening to frame him in a false case. Param Bir Singh on Monday appeared before the Commission probing corruption allegations against former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh. Following Singh’s appearance, the Justice K.U. Chandiwal Commission cancelled the bailable warrant issued against him and asked him to deposit Rs.15,000 in Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
