Egypt bus crash kills at least 22 in South Sinai

In Egypt, 22 people were killed and 28 others injured when a passenger bus crashed in the Sinai Peninsula on Wednesday. The casualties included both Egyptians and Jordanians. Egypt’s Health Ministry said in a statement that the accident took place on a road linking the tourist resorts of Dahab and Nuweiba in South Sinai province. Local media reported that the bus was travelling from Cairo to Amman in Jordan when it overturned on the road between Dahab and Nuweiba. The reports said 10 Jordanians were among those killed in the crash. Some media reports said the bus overturned after one of its tyres burst. 
Fatal traffic accidents remain common in Egypt and are frequently attributed to speeding, unsafe driving and poorly maintained roads. Official figures recorded nearly 6,000 road deaths nationwide in 2025. The latest accident comes about a month after 18 people were killed and 30 injured in a collision involving two lorries in the northeastern governorate of Ismailia.
