Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana will take place in a single phase on October 21 and the results will be declared October 24. Sunil Arora , Chief Election Commissioner announced Assembly election schedule for the Maharastra and Haryana in New Delhi on Saturday. Both Maharashtra and Haryana are the first states to go to polls after the Lok Sabha elections earlier this year. While the term of Maharashtra assembly ends on November 9, that of the Haryana assembly expires on November 2. With the announcement, the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect in the two states. Arora said the notification for the polls will be made on September 27. The last date of filing nominations is October 4. The scrutiny of nominations will take place on October 5 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is October 7. The announcement has set in motion the poll code of conduct. The election process in both the states will be completed before November. Maharashtra has 288 seats and Haryana 90 seats.
