Former US NSA Bolton calls Doha accord a big mistake

Former US ambassador to the UN and national security adviser John Bolton has said that President Donald Trump's decision to sign the Doha agreement between the US and the Taliban was a big mistake. Bolton said that the Taliban has failed its commitments towards Afghan people. He said, a large number of foreign fighters have returned to Afghanistan.  Bolton said in an interview with an afghan Tolo News, In think history has proven in fact that it was a terrible agreement. The objective the Taliban wanted was America, NATO, out of Afghanistan, everything else was secondary.  The former US envoy for peace in Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, did not contribute positively to the situation, but he was taking orders from President Trump and Secretary Pompeo. The US and the Taliban signed the peace agreement in February 2020 under the Presidency of former US President Donald Trump. The deal stated the withdrawal of the US troops from Afghanistan and the Taliban would abate violence and guarantee that its soil will not be a safe haven for the terrorists. Bolton stated that the Islamic Emirate has failed to uphold its commitments and a large number of foreign fighters have returned to Afghanistan.  Now we are not entirely blind, but we are certainly not in the position we were, Bolton said. His remarks came at a time both the Taliban leadership and the United States have repeatedly blamed each other for breaking the pact – mainly after the recent American drone strike  that killed Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahri at an urban safe house in Afghanistan.  The Islamic Emirate rule has repeatedly denied the accusation, defying the United States has consistently violated the Doha agreement.
