Soon after assuming charge as Deputy Chief Minister, Harsh Sanghavi has initiated a series of review meetings with senior officials from departments under his purview. In his very first meeting with the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC), he made a significant decision aimed at boosting employee morale and operational efficiency.
In a major relief to the corporation’s workforce, Sanghavi announced that all GSRTC employees will now receive a Rs10,000 festival advance—doubling the previous amount. Earlier, only fixed-salary employees were eligible for an advance of up to Rs5,000. This decision will benefit more than 36,000 employees who play a key role in maintaining timely and reliable transport services across Gujarat. The move is expected to bring festive cheer to thousands of families and enhance employee satisfaction.
To personally oversee festive transport arrangements, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the Ahmedabad Geeta Mandir Bus Station on Saturday evening at 7:30 PM. His visit focused on reviewing the operations of additional buses being deployed for the Diwali rush and ensuring that commuters face minimal inconvenience during peak travel days.Alongside this financial relief, Sanghavi also announced a state-wide cleanliness and water conservation drive across all RTO offices and ST bus stations in Gujarat. Running from 26 to 30 October, the campaign will focus on repairing water leakages, promoting water-saving practices, and improving sanitation standards in public transport facilities. The initiative is designed to foster public awareness about cleanliness and sustainable resource use within the state’s transport ecosystem.
