The Delhi Police's Special Cell has busted a Pakistan-organised terror module on Tuesday. They made six arrests — two were terrorists trained in Pakistan. The police has arrested six terrorists who were planning to set off bombs in various parts of the country during the upcoming festival season. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said, "Pakistan-organised terror module has been busted."
Tuesday's operation, spanning Delhi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, was launched based on alerts on the said terror module from various agencies. RDX-fitted IEDs (improvised explosive device) have been recovered from them in a multi-state operation, the Delhi Police said.The police have recovered two hand grenades, two improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a kilogram of RDX, and a pistol of Italian make. "Special Cell of Delhi police had received a reliable input from a central agency that a Pakistan-abetted and sponsored group of entities is planning to execute serial IED blasts in India. For this, the group has got multiple IEDs arranged from sources across the border and are at an advanced stage of preparation," a police press release said.
The Delhi Police said that the group was planning to carry out major attacks in Maharashtra, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh during Navratri and Ramlila. The six arrested terrorists have been identified as - Jan Mohammed Sheikh from Maharashtra, Osama Sami from Delhi, Lala from UP's Rae Bareily, Zeeshan from UP's Prayagraj, Mohd Amir Javed from Lucknow. Osama and Jeeshan have been trained in Pakistan, Delhi Police said.
