The newly launched Green Drive Portal allows citizens to book plantation slots for the Mega Plantation Drive, register as Environmental Saviours, and reserve free saplings from their nearest government nursery. To facilitate the campaign, the Delhi Forest Department will deploy ‘Vriksh Rath’teams to provide doorstep plantation support by supplying free saplings, equipment and technical assistance at homes, schools, colleges, residential colonies, offices and other suitable locations.
The portal offers four major services—plantation slot booking, the Vriksh Rath facility for free sapling delivery, a nursery locator to help residents identify the nearest government nursery, and Environmental Saviour registration, enabling citizens to enrol as Green Warriors and remain associated with the government's environmental initiatives throughout the year.
Under the Vriksh Rath service, individuals, educational institutions, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), offices and housing societies with available space can request the Delhi government to deliver free saplings directly to their premises, making participation in the plantation drive more convenient. The plantation campaign will focus on native and long-living tree species, including peepal, banyan, gular, neem, arjun and jamun, with the aim of enhancing Delhi's green cover and ecological sustainability. As part of the broader environmental initiative, the Delhi government also plans to develop 100 Oxygen Parks across the city to improve air quality and create more green spaces for residents.Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said plantation sites have been identified across all 70 Assembly constituencies, allowing citizens to choose and book plantation slots in their preferred constituency or locality through the portal. He added that the campaign is not limited to designated plantation sites and encourages residents to undertake tree plantation at homes, educational institutions, residential complexes and rooftop gardens wherever adequate space is available, making the initiative a community-driven movement for environmental conservation.
