Delhi chills at 11.8°C; windy day ahead, AQI in ‘poor’ category

Delhi woke up to a chilly Saturday morning as the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 11.8 degrees Celsius, 2.4 notches below the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).The weather office has forecast strong surface winds during the day, offering some relief from stagnant air conditions. The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 24.8 degrees Celsius, which is 1.5 notches above normal for this time of the year.Relative humidity was recorded at 82 per cent at 8:30 am, contributing to the morning chill across parts of the city.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s air quality remained a concern. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed that the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 214 at 9 am, placing it in the ‘poor’ category.As per CPCB classification, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.With brisk winds expected through the day, authorities will closely monitor whether air quality improves in the coming hours.
