D B Chandre Gowda passes away

Daradahalli Byregowda Chandre Gowda ( ದಾರದ ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಬೈರೇಗೌಡ ಚಂದ್ರೇಗೌಡ ) passed away at his residence at Daradahalli in Mudigere Taluk in Chickmagalur district in the wee hours on Tuesday.The 87-year Mr D B Chandre Gowda can be termed as one of the rare personalities in State Politics, who had represented in all the four Houses of Democracy. Chandre Gowda was a Member of State Legislative Assembly for three terms :representing Janata Dal Thirthalli Legislative Assembly Constituency from 1983 to 1985. He, again, contested from Thirthalli Legislative Assembly Constituency on a Janara Dal Ticket and was a Member of the House between 1989 and 1994. He had entered State Legislature Assembly from Sringeri Consultancy in 1999 on a Congress Ticket. Chandre Gowda was a Member of State Legislative Council, once, from 1978 to 1983 representing Indian National Congress.He quit Congress in 1983 to join Karnataka Kranti Ranga.
Chandre Gowda was Member of Parliament - both Lok Sabha, thrice, and Rajya Sabha, once.In 1971 and 1977, he had contested Elections to the Lok Sabha from Chickmagalur Parliamentary Constituency on a Congress Ticket.He resigned in 1978 to make way for the former Prime Minister Ms Indira Gandhi to contest from Chickmagalur Constituency and facilitated her to get a new lease of life in politics. In 2009, Chandre Gowda contested from Bangalore North Parliamentary Constituency and entered Lok Sabha, representing Bharatiya Janata Party. Chandre Gowda was Member of Rajya Sabha in 1986 representing Janata Party, which later became Janata Dal.
Chandre Gowda served as Speaker of the State Legislative Assembly, from 1983 to 1985. Chandre Gowda served as a Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs. He served as a Leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly. Chandre Gowda had represented Praja Socialist Party, Karnataka Kranti Ranga, Janata Party, Janata Dal, Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party, which is also a rare feat in the Political History of Karnataka.
