CWG: Preeti, Jasmine win Gold in boxing,Soman wins shot put Gold

In Commonwealth Games 2026,Indian boxer-Preeti Pawar and Jaismine Lamboria won gold medal on Saturday. Preeti Pawar clinched the women's 54kg boxing gold medal after outclassing Canada's Scarlett Savannah Delgado with a commanding 5-0 unanimous decision in the final on Saturday, August 1. It was India’s sixth gold medal in this edition of the Games.The Indian boxer dominated all three rounds, with each of the five judges scoring every round in her favour.

Jaismine Lamboria defeated Michaela Walsh in the women’s 57 kg category to win the gold medal. She secured India’s seventh gold medal in the Commonwealth Games. The match took place right after Preeti’s gold medal contest. Notably, Jaismine also won by a unanimous decision. After the announcement, both athletes hugged and Jasmine even raised Walsh’s hand for her to take all the appreciation. 

Meanwhile, Praveen Chithravel won silver while Selva Prabhu Thirumaran clinched bronze in the men's triple jump event. In the men's shot put F57 final, India pulled off a historic double  at the CWG, winning gold and silver to take the nation's medal tally in Glasgow to 30. Soman Rana won gold with a 13.40m attempt, while Shubham Juyal registered a throw of 13.28m. The shot put F57 is a discipline requiring seated, strapped-in athletes to generate power entirely through the upper body and torso. 

Havildar Soman Rana is an Indian Army para athlete. He hails from Gaya, Bihar.Soman, a two-time Paralympian, had won a silver medal at the World Para Athletics Championships in 2025.
