Current two top leaders (Modi-Shah) of the Bharatiya Janata Party have also become followers of the well-known style of the Congress finally. Although both of them keep thinking day and night about making the Congress power center - the Gandhi family - non-existent, but they did not hesitate at all in adopting their style and becoming dictators themselves. This is what has been seen in the process of CM selection after the ‘lotus’ blossomed in three states of the Hindi heartland in the recent assembly elections. There was a pretense of legislature party meeting in Congress style. Then the slip given by ‘top leaders’, was opened and the name of CM announced. The opinion of the MLAs was not at-all taken. After revealing the name, Central Observer asked MLAs – If there is a better name than this, please suggest. Which MLA would take the trouble of challenging the choice of the top leaders? So “unanimously” sealed his choice. You can say this-- Plain and simple authoritarianism.
This is what the Gandhi family is doing since decades. In the meeting of newly elected MLAs, either a one-line resolution is passed leaving the right to decide the party leader to the high command or the Central Observer announces the name submitted by the high command after listening to all the party MLAs.
Coming back to the top duo (of BJP). They surprised all by picking up back benchers as Chief Minister in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. Then the 'Godee' media-moguls started praising their decision. Said- Now the BJP high command does not take any kind of pressure in taking decisions…the basis of its decisions is only one and one point…beyond that one point, neither any friendship nor display of power by any leader is useful... the basis of the decision of the high command is only party interest... party interest means which decision will increase public support in the upcoming elections... if someone passes this criteria then even the stains on his name vanished.
The media trumpet not stop here. They claim that after surprising names of CMs have emerged in three states, the Modi-Shah era and their working style is in the news...the leadership duo has laid the foundation of new era in politics. ..the beginning of generational change has been initiated…now no political leader should make the mistake of considering himself inevitable…etc.Someone should ask these drummers, this is simply not the dictatorship of Modi-Shah? Is each of their decisions based on the principles of the RSS? If these two have initiated generational change at the state level, will they follow suit at the central level? If BJP win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections by fighting under their leadership and at the time of forming the government, will they surprise the entire country by handing over the throne to any leader from the last row? Both of them are also 70 plus. This Age was the criteria for ticket distribution in the assembly elections.
Here one preaching of Mahatma Gandhi comes to mind. He used to say that before improving others, improve yourself. Only then will your preaching sink into people's minds. Similarly, Lal Krishna Advani had said in a public meeting in Allahabad during the 1977 general elections, reform and corruption spread from top to bottom. Therefore, top leader should do every work very thoughtfully. Now both the political stars of today have to decide whether they would follow the ideals of these two great men, or write a authoritarian script for the future generation of politicians.
