Congress not to declare CM face in Punjab,2 party MLAs join BJP

In a big jolt to Congress in Punjab, two party MLAs on Tuesday joined the BJP. Congress MLA from Qadian, Fateh Singh Bajwa,and MLA from Sri Hargobindpur, Balwinder Laddi joined the BJP..Fateh Jung is the brother of former Punjab Congress chief and Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa. Laddi also belongs to the Bajwa camp.Both joined the BJP in the presence of the party’s Punjab election in-charge and Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Former cricketer Dinesh Mongia and three-time Shiromani Akali Dal MLA from Baluana Gurtej Singh Gudhiyana were inducted into the BJP ahead of the assembly elections. Former Sangrur MP Rajdev Khalsa, United Christian Front Punjab president Kamal Bakshi, Nihal Singh Wala municipal corporation member Jagdeep Singh Dhaliwal and retired ADC and advocate in the Punjab and Haryana high court Madhumeet also joined the BJP.

Meanwhile the Congress high command has decided  not to declare a CM face in Punjab. The Congress high command is said to have conveyed to the Punjab unit that the assembly election will be fought under collective leadership. The decision is aimed at striking a balance among various communities of voters in Punjab. The party's high command has said that Navjot Singh Sidhu will be presented as a Jat leader, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi as the Dalit face, and Sunil Jakhar as the Hindu face.
