Cong leader booked for sharing Kerala CM's AI generated image

A case has been registered against a Congress leader for allegedly circulating an AI-generated image depicting Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan alongside Unnikrishnan Potty, an accused in the Sabarimala gold loss case, police officials said on Friday.The FIR has been filed against N Subarahmanian of Karuvattoor, a member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Political Affairs Committee.According to the complaint registered by Chevayoor police, Subarahmanian shared a post on a social media platform carrying a photograph of the Chief Minister with Potty, along with a caption questioning the nature of their alleged closeness.Police said initial verification indicated that the image was created using artificial intelligence.
A case has been registered under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to wanton provocation with intent to cause a riot, and Section 120(o) of the Kerala Police Act for causing annoyance through communication.Officials said police are also tracking others who circulated similar images on social media platforms, while efforts are underway to trace the source of the AI-generated photograph.Meanwhile, the CPI(M) on Thursday stated that the image being shared on social media was fabricated using artificial intelligence and had no basis in fact.
