Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held an interactive session with diplomats and heads of missions in New Delhi on Friday, underscoring the state’s growing global positioning. Highlighting Gujarat’s economic achievements, the Chief Minister noted that the state has attracted USD 69 billion in FDI and contributes 27% to India’s exports, thereby establishing itself as a hub of global connectivity.The session, organised as a prelude to the upcoming Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences (VGRC) under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, witnessed the participation of ambassadors, high commissioners, and representatives from 45 nations.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, launched in 2003 under the vision of the Prime Minister, has evolved into a globally acclaimed platform for investment and partnership. He added that Gujarat has moved beyond its traditional image as a commercial state to become a hub for new-age industries.
“Gujarat is emerging as a pioneering state in futuristic sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, SpaceTech, FinTech, Semiconductors, Defence & Aerospace, Electric Vehicles, and Green Energy,” the Chief Minister stated.
Emphasising Gujarat’s strengths, Patel said that with the country’s longest coastline, 49 operational ports, and a multimodal transport network under PM Gati Shakti, the state is a national leader in logistics and exports. He highlighted that Gujarat contributes 18% to India’s total industrial output, reflecting its robust infrastructure and policy-driven governance model.Explaining the role of VGRC, the Chief Minister noted that the initiative would expand the success of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit into every region of the state, promote balanced development, empower MSMEs, and strengthen Gujarat’s economic engagement with the world.Extending an invitation to the diplomatic community, Patel said, “Through the theme of VGRC — Regional Aspirations, Global Ambitions — we seek to build inclusive, innovative, and sustainable economies in collaboration with partner nations. We welcome participation in trade, investment, technology, and cultural exchanges through the upcoming Regional Conferences.”
On this occasion, Sudhakar Dalela, Secretary of the Economic Relations Division at the Ministry of External Affairs, commended the initiative, stating, “The Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences are an important step following the success of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. These conferences will showcase regional strengths, promote grassroots development, and align local aspirations with the broad vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and Viksit Gujarat @2047.”Senior state and central government officials also addressed the gathering, including Chief Secretary Pankaj Joshi, Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister M.K. Das, Principal Secretary (Industries) Ms. Mamta Verma, and Joint Secretary of the Economic Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs, P.S. Gangadhar.The session concluded with a call to deepen global partnerships and advance Gujarat’s role as a gateway for investment and innovation.
