India and Brazil on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen cooperation in telecommunications and information and communications technologies (ICTs) in Pune. ccording to the Department of Telecommunicationst the agreement will advance digital innovation, strengthen digital infrastructure and foster cooperation in emerging technologies. The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 12th BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting in Pune by Union Minister of Communications Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and H.E. Mr. Frederico de Siqueira Filho, Minister of Communications, Brazil. Union Minister Scindia said in a post that the MoU would deepen bilateral collaboration on universal connectivity, cybersecurity, digital public infrastructure, emerging technologies, capacity building and exchange of best practices. He called the agreement a strong step forward in bolstering India-Brazil collaboration for a secure and inclusive digital future.
The 12th BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting was held in Pune on Friday under India’s BRICS Chairship, bringing together communications ministers and senior representatives from the 11 member countries to strengthen cooperation in information and communication technologies (ICTs), digital transformation and resilient digital infrastructure. The meeting was chaired by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and was held under India’s BRICS Chairship theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”.According to agency reports,the 2026 ICT Track carried the theme “Innovate, Cooperate and Transform (ICT) for a Resilient Future”. Discussions focused on emerging technologies, future networks, cybersecurity, digital public infrastructure, capacity building and global digital governance.

The meeting provided a platform for BRICS members to exchange views and share best practices on digital transformation, inclusive connectivity and strengthening digital infrastructure across the Global South.The Department of Telecommunications organised a five-day BRICS ICT Track in Pune from August 17 to 21. The programme included the 7th Meeting of the BRICS Working Group for Cooperation in ICTs and the Digital BRICS Forum and Expo on August 20.India also showcased its Digital Public Infrastructure model, which is based on scalable, open and interoperable digital systems supporting public and private service delivery.The deliberations are aimed at advancing practical cooperation among BRICS countries in ICTs and promoting resilient, secure and inclusive digital ecosystems.
