The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Nitesh Kumar Singh, Garrison Engineer (GE), Rakesh Sahu, Assistant Garrison Engineer (AGE) , Deepak, Junior Engineer (JE) of MES, Sagar (M.P.) and Rajesh Mishra (Middleman) while accepting a bribe of Rs. 80,000/- from the complainant. CBI registered a case against the accused Garrison Engineer (GE), Assistant Garrison Engineer (AGE) of MES, Sagar (M.P.) and one Middleman on the allegations that the accused public servants demanded a bribe @ 2% (i.e. Rs. 1,00,000/-) of the contract value through the middleman for making available the contract site to the contractor for carrying out the repair and maintenance work under the awarded contract.
After negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 80,000/- @ 1.5% of the contract value from the complainant. CBI laid a trap and caught the four accused red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 80,000/- from the complainant. Later, above said accused have been arrested. Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused, which led to the recovery of incriminating documents/ articles.
