External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar addressed the 6th Ministerial meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures (CICA) 2021 in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. In his address, Jaishankar said that India's internationalism (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam) drives the Vaccine Maitri of India. In a series of tweet, he said Covid response has brought out the limitations of current multilateralism. Dr. Jaishankar said need for reformed multilateralism is strong. He dwelt on sustainable development which requires a sustainable lifestyle. About Terrorism, the Minister said that cross-border terrorism is not a statecraft. It is simply another form of terrorism. Jaishankar said the connectivity must respect the most basic principle of international relations-respect for sovereignty & territorial integrity.
Jaishankar said, voice of CICA can be a positive factor in shaping a global response. The progress of CICA adds to the case for reformed multilateralism. He spoke at the collective call of Foreign Ministers on Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Jaishankar appreciated Kazakhstan's initiative in consolidating the unique CICA forum, underlined its relevance in addressing contemporary challenges, including terrorism, pandemics and protection of global commons.On the sidelines of the CICA meeting in Nur-Sultan, External Affairs Minister meet his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and noted the progress in the bilateral cooperation.

The two leaders exchanged notes on Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific. He said he was also delighted to meet my new Mongolian colleague Battsetseg Batmunkh. He said they discussed strong development partnership between the two countries. India will always remain a strong spiritual neighbour, he added.
