BJP will be removed from Centre: Mamata Banerjee

Trinamool Congress (TMC) chief Mamata Banerjee has intensified her attack on the BJP. During a meeting with party MLAs in Kalighat in Kolkata, Banerjee said the BJP-led Central government would not remain in power forever. “BJP will be removed from power in Delhi in the coming days," she said. Mamata alleged that minority communities and roadside hawkers are being targeted by the newly formed BJP government in West Bengal. "This government is tampering with our constitutional ideas and values," Mamata claimed, criticising the Suvendu Adhikari-led state government.
The meeting was also attended by Abhishek Banerjee, who is also the national general secretary of the TMC. He addressed the notice sent to him by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), which has directed him to demolish "unauthorized parts" of his house in south Kolkata. Come what may, fight will continue against BJP." It is worth mentioning here that the KMC, which sent the demolition notice, is still under the control of the TMC, and party MLA Firhad Hakim, considered a close aide of Mamata, is the mayor of Kolkata.
Meanwhile, the TMC has approached the Calcutta High Court over alleged post-poll violence in different parts of the state after the BJP’s victory. According to the petition, incidents of arson, vandalism and attacks on TMC workers and party offices were reported from several areas. The party has sought protection for its workers and demanded a proper investigation into the violence. Clashes and vandalism were reported from Kolkata, Howrah and other district towns, with both the BJP and the TMC blaming each other. TMC leaders also alleged that several party workers were killed after the election results and demanded a court-monitored probe.
