BJP releases first list for Haryana polls

The BJP released a list of 78 candidates for upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Announcing the names of the candidates in New Delhi, BJP General Secretary Arun Singh said, the party has retained 38 sitting MLAs in this list while seven have been denied tickets. The list also contains names of nine women candidates. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar will contest from Karnal, the seat he won for the first time in the last assembly election. Names of wrestlers Yogeshwar Dutt and Babita Phogat and former captain of India hockey team Sandeep Singh also figures in the list. Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala will contest from Tohana. Haryana has 90 assembly seats  Seventeen seats are reserved for the Scheduled Castes. The state will go to poll on October 21, 2019
