BJP received large donations from business houses and individuals in the 2020-21 financial year, According to the reports submitted to the Election Commission of India. The party received over Rs 477 crore in large donations in 2020-21, almost 6.5 times the Rs 74 crore garnered by the opposition Congress party. The BJP received donations from 2,206 contributors, and its closest rival Congress received donations from 1,059 donors, their reports showed. recieved The Trinamool Congress received Rs 42.51 crore from 26 donors, followed by the NCP at over Rs 26.26 crore from 79 donors. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) received Rs12.85 crore from 226 donors. Large donations to the Bahujan Samaj Party have disappeared. It declared zero contributions over Rs 20,000 for the second year in a row.The total donations received by all parties was more than ₹633.66 crore. The BJP received nearly 75% of it, while the Congress cornered 11%. All political parties have to declare donations in excess of Rs 20,000 for every financial year.
BJP received Rs 4,77,54,50,077 from various entities, electoral trusts, and individuals. The party had filed the contribution report for FY 2020-21 before the poll panel on March 14 this yea. In the financial year FY 2020, electoral bonds worth Rs 3,429.56 crore were redeemed by parties in 2019-20, and 87.29 per cent of this was received by four national parties – the BJP, Congress, TMC and the NCP, according to the ADR.
