In Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory, out of 280 District Development Council DDC constituencies, result of 277 seats has been declared. BJP is leading the tally with 75 seats followed closely by J&K National Conference with 67 seats. “This election has proved that no matter what you do against National Conference, you can’t put an end to its existence. Only Almighty or public has that power. Spread lies and propaganda but truth will come out someday,” National Conference leader and former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah said.“The DDC election result is a victory of the policies of the government of India, and of the Jammu & Kashmir administration in successfully conducting the polls. The greatest win is for the locals who have endorsed the country’s democratic system,” BJP general secretary Ram Madhav said.

We heartily thank the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their univocal belief in the politics of development and good governance.
We congratulate our brave and dedicated Karyakartas who worked fearlessly and tirelessly to make this possible. pic.twitter.com/2bMFvB1tuR
BJP leaders have said the Jammu and Kashmir DDC election results are a “victory of hope and democracy” and the Gupkar alliance has lost credibility with the number of votes BJP and indipendent candidates have secured in the election. Union minister and BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said on Wednesday, “DDC results are a victory of hope and democracy. BJP has become the single-largest party in the state. “The Gupkar alliance formed just because they were not been able to fight BJP single-handedly. Despite that, BJP got 4.87 lakh votes, NC got 2.82 lakh votes, PDP got 57,000 votes and Congress secured 1.39 lakh votes. BJP has got more than the combined vote share of NC, PDP and Congress. This is the first time BJP has got seats in the Kashmir Valley,” said Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Anurag Thakur, BJP's in-charge of DDC polls in Jammu and Kashmir said, “It is important to know that independent candidates have polled more votes than the Congress and the PDP. The same Mehbooba Mufti who had refused to unfurl the tricolour has got a befitting reply .”
