Nitish Kumar sworn in as CM for a record 10th time in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister graced the occassion of swearing in ceremony of newly elected NDA governement led by Nitish Kumar in Bihar. CM Nitish Kumar was sworn on sworn in as CM for a record 10th time minister for a record 10th time, a day after he staked claim to form the next government in the state and was elected the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).The grand ceremony, held at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan at 11:30 am, also saw the presence of BJP chief JP Nadda, Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Dharmendra Pradhan, along with chief ministers of at least seven states. A total of 18 ministers, including two deputy chief ministers, are scheduled to take oath as part of the expanded cabinet.

• 2025 Bihar election results:
The NDA — led by the JD(U) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — secured a sweeping majority in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, winning 202 of 243 seats. The BJP emerged as the single-largest party with 89 seats, followed by the JD(U) with 85. The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) won 19 seats, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) five, and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha four.
• Nitish Kumar resigns as CM:
Nitish Kumar, 75, resigned on Wednesday before submitting his claim to form the new government to Governor Arif Mohammed Khan, backed by letters of support from all NDA partners. Earlier the same day, he was elected the leader of the JD(U) and subsequently the leader of the NDA in Bihar.

The BJP on Wednesday elected Samrat Choudhury as its legislature party leader and Vijay Kumar Sinha as deputy leader, indicating both will continue as deputy chief ministers.
