Ayodhya illuminates with more than 30 Lakh earthen lamps

Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan on Saturday attended the grand tenth Deepotsav celebrations in Ayodhya. The annual event has been organised every year on the occasion of Chhoti Diwali since Yogi Adityanath became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh in 2017. During this year’s celebrations, more than 30 Lakh earthen lamps illuminated on the 56 ghats of the sacred Saryu River. Governor Anandiben Patel, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and thousands of devotees from India and abroad were present on the occasion.

Appreciating Ayodhya’s spiritual heritage and modern development, the Vice President said that the holy city is rapidly transforming into a grand spiritual destination while preserving its divine legacy. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the Saryu Aarti and while addressing the gathering, he said that Lord Shri Ram represents India’s self-respect and that is why Ayodhya has been recognised in the scriptures as the foremost among the seven sacred cities, known as Sapta Puri.
A spectacular laser show, along with live cultural performances, was organised at Ram Ki Paidi. The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple complex was also illuminated with one lakh earthen lamps. Earlier, at Ram Katha Park, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed the symbolic coronation and offered prayers to the representations of Lord Ram, Goddess Sita and Lakshman. They also ceremonially pulled the chariot of Lord Ram.

Images of Lord Ram in a heroic posture, the killing of Ravana, the Pushpak Viman, Ram Darbar and the Ram Janmabhoomi temple were recreated through the drone show. The formations of Lakshman and Hanuman, along with those of sage Valmiki and poet Tulsidas, also captivated spectators.
A large crowd, including children, youngsters and elderly people, gathered at the venue to watch the spectacle, with many capturing the illuminated formations on their mobile phones. The presentation drew applause and "Jai Shri Ram" chants.Adding to the celebrations, an eco-friendly fireworks display along the banks of the Saryu River transformed the sky into a canvas of colourful lights.
As the fireworks began, spectators gathered along the ghats watched the successive formations with excitement, while devotees and tourists captured the spectacle on their cameras. The illuminated riverfront, combined with the glow of lamps and the festive atmosphere, added to the grandeur of the 10th Deepotsav.
