At least 19 dead as tipper lorry collides with RTC bus in Telangana

At least 19 people were killed and several others sustained severe injuries in a tragic road accident near Mirzaguda village of Chevella mandal in Ranga Reddy district on Monday morning, when a tipper lorry carrying gravel collided head-on with a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus.According to police, the TSRTC bus from Tandur depot in Vikarabad district was heading towards Hyderabad when the speeding tipper, loaded with gravel, rammed into it near Mirzaguda. The impact was so severe that the gravel fell onto the bus, crushing several passengers inside. Rescue teams used earthmovers to clear the debris and pull out those trapped under the gravel.
Officials confirmed that 19 people, including 10 women and the bus driver, lost their lives in the mishap. Several others were grievously injured and rushed to nearby hospitals. The exact number of passengers travelling in the bus is yet to be confirmed, as the injured were in shock and unable to provide details.Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrifying, with the bus completely mangled under the load of gravel. Emergency services, including police, medical teams, and disaster response personnel, were deployed to the site to carry out rescue operations on a war footing.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure immediate relief measures. The Chief Minister spoke to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, instructing them to coordinate rescue and medical efforts efficiently.He also ordered the evacuation of all injured passengers to Hyderabad for advanced medical treatment and directed that adequate ambulances and medical staff be stationed at the accident site. Ministers and senior officials have been asked to reach Chevella to oversee the relief operations.A control room has been set up at the Secretariat to monitor the situation continuously. The Chief Minister is receiving regular updates on the progress of rescue efforts and the condition of the injured.Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident, with initial reports suggesting that overspeeding by the tipper driver may have led to the collision.
