Apple on Tuesday announced the appointment of Sabih Khan as its new Chief Operating Officer, marking a significant leadership change within the tech giant. Khan, who is of Indian origin, will succeed Jeff Williams later this month as part of a long-anticipated succession plan. A 30-year veteran at Apple, Khan currently serves as the senior vice president of operations and has been instrumental in managing the company’s global supply chain and manufacturing systems. Prior to joining Apple’s procurement division in 1995, Khan worked at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer and key account technical leader. While Khan steps into his new role, Williams will continue reporting to CEO Tim Cook, overseeing the company’s design team and Apple Watch. Following Williams' expected retirement later this year, Apple’s design team will report directly to Cook.
