India’s processed food export sector achieved a major milestone as the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) facilitated the first-ever commercial export of dried whole egg powder from Balangir, Odisha, to Austria. The 22.6 metric tonne consignment marks a significant step in expanding India’s value-added poultry product exports and reflects growing global demand for Indian processed food products in premium international markets.
According to agency reports ,the shipment was virtually flagged off by APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev, IAS, in the presence of senior officials from the Odisha government, Balangir district administration, exporters and other stakeholders. To strengthen the regional egg value chain, the exporter established a modern egg processing facility in Balangir in 2025. The facility produces dried egg products meeting global quality and safety standards, including European Union hygiene requirements, EIC standards and certifications such as FSSC 22000 Version 6, HALAL and KOSHER.Dried whole egg powder, produced through spray-drying of liquid eggs, is widely used in food processing, bakeries, confectionery, pharmaceuticals and other industries due to its longer shelf life, easy transportation and versatility.
