Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy’s sister YS Sharmila on Thursday officially launched her political forum 'YSR Telangana Party', thereby marking her foray into active politics.She said the YSR Telangana Party would mainly focus on three issues, including welfare, self-prosperity and equality. She is the daughter of former chief minister of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, and Thursday(July8) was his his birthday.
Sharmila also promised ‘Rajanna Rajyam’, a state envisaged by her father and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister late Rajasekhara Reddy and and would take forward the welfare promises made and fulfilled by her father. She said Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had failed to fulfill promises and added that she would go on a padyatra in 100 days to interact with people and understand their problems. Hitting out at the BJP and the ruling TRS in the state, she alleged that both parties were hand in glove. She also used the occasion to take potshots at Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao and alleged that he has failed in fulfilling the promises made to the people.Commenting on the river water controversy between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Sharmila said the Chief Ministers of both states should both the CMs should sit together and resolve the Krishna water dispute.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has distanced himself from his sister's political foray into Telangana. Ms Sharmila's mother, Y S Vijayalakshmi, who had stood by her son when he launched his political party after moving away from the Congress, was now by the side of her daughter. Ms Sharmila came by a special flight to Hyderabad and took part in a massive roadshow.
