Amit Shah blames BJD For Odisha’s Backwardness

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs3,770 crore in Odisha, including initiatives of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), the Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation (OMFED) and the state government. Shah also inaugurated Sulphuric Acid Plant–III at IFFCO’s Paradip unit and addressed a Cooperative Development Seminar in Bhubaneswar. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi were among those present at the event.
Addressing the gathering, Shah said the projects launched during the day mark an important step in the development of Odisha. He said the sulphuric acid plant at Paradip would help strengthen domestic production and contribute to making the country self-reliant in the chemical. He  said India has emerged as the fastest-growing major economy in the world and noted that several free trade agreements have been signed in recent years to boost economic growth and global trade.

Amit Shah said Odisha has achieved a conviction rate of more than 87 per cent in FIRs registered under the new criminal laws, adding that scientific investigation methods and forensic evidence are helping strengthen law enforcement. Highlighting the cooperative sector, Shah said the Centre and the Odisha government would work together to build a strong cooperative base in every village in the state, similar to the Amul model.Shah blamed the opposition BJD for the backwardness of Odisha, which was ruled by the regional party for 24 years, and accused the Congress of indulging in "negative politics."  launched a scathing attack on the two opposition parties a day after BJD and Congress jointly fielded a common candidate in a seat from the state in the Rajya Sabha elections to thwart the saffron party's bid to secure it.
