A new phase of industrial development began in Guna on Sunday as the foundation stone for Ambuja Cements’ proposed cement grinding unit was laid with an investment of over Rs 1,060 crore.The foundation stone for the project was laid by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia in the presence of senior government officials and industry representatives.The proposed cement unit, being developed by the Adani Group, is expected to produce around 40 lakh tonnes of cement annually and generate employment opportunities for nearly 1,500 people, including direct and indirect jobs.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the project marked the beginning of a “new era” of development for Guna and the surrounding region.He said industries were essential for economic growth and employment generation and added that Guna was now entering a new phase of industrial expansion and opportunity.Along with the industrial project, the Chief Minister also inaugurated and performed bhoomi-pujan for 144 development works worth around Rs 130 crore in the district.The projects include infrastructure expansion and public utility works across the Guna-Shivpuri region.Mohan Yadav also announced several additional development initiatives, including restoration work on the Guniya river, construction of a bridge at Lakshman Kotra and beautification of Bhujariya pond in Guna.Highlighting the changing image of the Gwalior-Chambal region, the Chief Minister said the area, once associated with violence, was now becoming a symbol of development and investment.He said the state government was working in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of development and was ensuring that farmers benefit from infrastructure and industrial projects.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia described the occasion as historic for Guna and credited the “triple-engine government” for accelerating development projects in the region.
“This is just the beginning. Adani’s cement factory is being set up here, and a defence manufacturing unit is also coming up in Shivpuri. A new chain of development has now started,” Scindia said.He added that the project was the outcome of nearly four years of planning and discussions and would create employment opportunities for local youth, reducing migration in search of jobs.Scindia also announced that future projects in the region would include industrial units aimed at generating employment for women.

Speaking at the programme, Pranav Adani,Managing Director of Adani Enterprises, said the project represented more than the launch of a single industrial unit and would contribute significantly to Madhya Pradesh’s economic growth.He praised the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and highlighted the state government’s focus on infrastructure, industries and logistics development.Pranav Adani said the project aligned with the Prime Minister’s PM Gati-Shakti vision and noted that improvements in transportation and industrial infrastructure had created a strong environment for investment in Madhya Pradesh.He also recalled that Gautam Adani had pledged investments worth Rs 1.10 lakh crore in Madhya Pradesh during the Global Investors Summit held in Bhopal last year.The proposed investments include sectors such as hydro pumped storage, cement, mining, smart meters and thermal energy.
According to officials, the new cement unit is expected to provide around 500 direct jobs and nearly 1,000 indirect employment opportunities through transport, trade and related sectors.The state government is also expected to receive nearly Rs 160 crore annually in GST revenue from the project.
