The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday announced its first list of 23 candidates for the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections scheduled for October 11.AAP Gujarat General Secretary Manoj Sorathiya said the party had secured around 21 per cent of the vote and won one seat in the previous Gandhinagar civic polls. He said the party’s lone councillor had served as an opposition voice over the past five years.

The upcoming election will cover 44 seats across 11 wards, with the BJP, Congress and AAP contesting the civic polls.Announcing the candidates, Sorathiya said the list includes youth, doctors, lawyers, MBA graduates and social workers. The party has also released a manifesto focused on developing Gandhinagar as a world-class city.
The first list includes candidates from wards 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, with AAP saying the remaining candidates will be announced after scrutiny.Elections to the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation, along with the Okha and Thara municipalities, will be held on October 11, while counting will take place on October 13. The last date for filing nominations is September 26, scrutiny will be held on September 28 and candidates can withdraw their nominations until September 29.
