2 terrorists killed in ongoing Operation in J&K’s Udhampur

Two terrorists were killed in a joint intelligence-based counter-terrorism operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Thursday, according to agency reports. The operation continued in the remote forested area amid difficult weather conditions.
Codenamed “Operation Sohan”, the operation was launched during the intervening night of September 16 and 17 following intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the Brattal area, officials said. The operation involved troops of the White Knight Corps along with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Security forces carried out the operation in the Brattal Sohan and Khubban areas of Majalta despite incessant rain, difficult terrain and poor visibility

The Army confirmed that two terrorists were killed but did not immediately disclose their identities or affiliations. Officials, however, said the two were suspected to be affiliated with Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).Search and surveillance operations remained underway to detect any remaining terrorist presence and prevent movement through the forested terrain. The operation comes amid continued security concerns in parts of the Jammu region, including Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Doda and Kishtwar, where security forces have intensified counter-terrorism operations in recent years.
