13.75 lakh Indians renounced citizenship between 2014 & June 2023: EAM

Over 13 lakh 75 thousand Indian citizens have renounced their citizenship between 2014 and June of 2023. The information was given by the External Affairs Minister Dr. Subrahamanyam Jaishankar in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on Friday. The figures provided say that this year alone over 87000 people renounced their citizenship till June. It further says that the Indian nationals exploring the global workplace has been significant in the last two decades. Many of them have chosen to take up foreign citizenship for reasons of personal convenience. Saying that the Government is cognizant of this development, the Minister said it has taken a range of Make in India initiatives to engage with the diaspora. He added that it has utilized the reputation of the diaspora for national gain.

In another reply, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya said that the Government has set a target to open ten thousand Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendras, PMBJKs by March next year. In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, he said, nine thousand five hundred twelve PMBJKs have been opened across the country till the end of June this year. Replying to another question, the Minister said about ten to 12 lakh people buy medicines on an average daily basis from Jan Aushadhi Kendras all across the country.

More than 91 percent of cane dues have been cleared in the ongoing sugar season. This was stated by the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Friday. She said, government has taken various policy interventions to facilitate payments of outstanding dues to the sugarcane farmers. Ms Jyoti said, more than 99.9 per cent of cane dues have also been cleared for the previous sugar season 2021-22.

The Government has said that it maintains a record of migrant workers who migrate to 18 emigration Check required countries through e-Migrate Portal.  In a written reply to the Lok Sabha, Minister of State V.Muraleedharan said that 2458 illegal agents have been listed on the E- Migrate portal till now. He informed that approximately one thousand emigration clearances are processed every day by the 14 Protector of Emigrants offices across the Country. Since its inception in 2015, a total of 40 thousand 3592 Emigrant clearances have been issued through the e-Migrate portal till June this year. The Minister informed that there are around two thousand active Recruitment Agents and around two lakh foreign employers are registered in the portal.
