In Maharashtra, several regions, including Pune, Satara, Solapur, Raigad, Mumbai, and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), have experienced heavy rainfall. The Worli underground metro station in Mumbai was flooded as Monsoon arrived early in the financial capital. Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rainfall, which started last night and continued till morning.Mumbai recorded 135.4 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Fire Brigade, Mumbai Police, and all other civic agencies are on alert. No casualties have been reported. Five NDRF teams in Mumbai are on standby for any emergency assistance. The weather department has forecast thunderstorms and strong winds with rain over the next 24 hours in Mumbai. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued orders for immediate surveys and damage assessments in affected areas.

In Baramati, 25 houses were partially damaged, and seven people stranded in floodwaters were rescued. Around 70 to 80 families were relocated to safer locations. Mobile services were briefly disrupted but are now being restored. In Indapur, two people were rescued from flood situation. Phaltan recorded 163.5 mm of rain. An NDRF team is deployed in Phaltan, where 30 residents stranded near Dudhebavi village were provided shelter and food.In Raigad, one person died due to a lightning strike. The Mahad-Raigad Fort road has been closed due to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon made its onset over Mumbai on Monday, more than a fortnight before its normal date, with IMD officials saying it is the earliest arrival of rains in the country's financial capital in 75 years. "Southwest monsoon made its onset over Mumbai on May 26. This is the earliest onset in the last 75 years," India Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Sushma Nair said. The normal date for monsoon's arrival in Mumbai is June 11.
