Awami League party MP Anwarul Azim Anar fom Bangladesh,believed to have been killed in Kolkata, was skinned, chopped up in an apartment and disposed of in several plastic packets across the city, investigations have revealed.The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of West Bengal arrested Jihad Hawladar, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh who lived in Mumbai.According to CID sources cited by multiple media outlets, Jihad Hawladar has confessed to his involvement in the murder and dismemberment of the Bangladesh MP's body in an apartment in New Town, Kolkata.
Hawladar has reportedly disclosed that the mastermind was Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen of Bangladeshi origin.On Akhtaruzzaman's orders, Hawladar, along with four other Bangladeshi nationals, smothered and killed the Member of Parliament in the New Town apartment.The authorities found bloodstains inside the New Town apartment and also recovered several plastic bags.Hawladar reportedly told the police that after killing Anar, the group proceeded to skin the body, remove all the flesh, and mince it to ensure any possibility of identification. The remains were then packed into plastic bags, with the bones cut into small pieces. These packets were transported and disposed of across Kolkata, the suspect allegedly said.The police say they are trying to ascertain additional information on the location of the body parts of the killed Bangladesh politician.
Hawladar, who was staying at a hotel near the Kolkata airport, was given a share of the Rs 5 crore that Akhtaruzzaman spent on killing the Bangladeshi MP, sources said.During interrogation, Hawladar confessed that he and four other Bangladeshi nationals smothered and killed the MP at a flat in Kolkata's New Town area. He claimed that the murder was carried out on the orders of Akhtaruzzaman.
The three-time Bangladeshi MP had reportedly arrived in Kolkata on May 12 for medical treatment. He initially stayed at the residence of his family friend Gopal Biswas, a resident of Baranagar in north Kolkata.The next day, on May 13, Anwarul Anwar left Biswas's home to visit a doctor. However, the MP has been incommunicado since May 17, prompting Biswas to file a missing complaint a day later.The investigation also indicates the MP fell into a 'honey trap' by a Bangladeshi model named Silasti Rahman, who is believed to be acquainted with one of his murderers and aided in his killing. The woman is a resident of Bangladesh's Khulna district and lured the MP to his death. We suspect he was murdered soon after he went to the flat," a Kolkata cop relayed info from Dhaka. CCTV footage from the apartment had showed Anar entering the flat with a woman.Shilasti Rahman has been detained by Dhaka police.CCTV footage shows one of the accused exiting the flat with a large suitcase in Kolkata.
