In USA, at least three people have died and nine people remain missing after a panga boat carrying about 16 people overturned off the coast of San Diego, authorities said. The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed the incident.The Coast Gaurd added that authorities were still searching for the nine unaccounted for. A boat capsized near Torrey Pines State Beach, off San Diego’s coast, early Monday. An Indian family was also affected in the mishap, the consulate general of India in San Francisco said in a post on X. “While two Indian children are missing, the parents are undergoing treatment at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla,” the consulate said, adding that it is in touch with local authorities and providing all necessary assistance to the family.

Authorities believe the people aboard the panga were migrants. “They were not tourists,” Coast Guard Petty Officer Chris Sappey told the AP. “They are believed to be migrants.” Officials later found several items in the boat, including towels, life vests and shoes.
