Peeing case: accused sent to jail, Air India apologises for incident

After the Delhi court's action in peeing case, Tata Group-owned Air India CEO Campbell Wilson on Saturday apologised for a flyer urinating on a fellow woman passenger on a flight from New York in November, and said four cabin crew and a pilot had been de-rostered and the airline is reviewing policy of serving alcohol on flights. Facing backlash for the handling of the incident, Wilson in a statement said the airline could have handled the issue better and promised a robust reporting system of unruly behaviour and a system of reporting such incidents. Air India acknowledges that it could have handled these matters better, both in the air and on the ground and is committed to taking action, he said. The airline is reviewing "policy on serving of alcohol on flight," he said without elaborating.

Shankar Mishra, the man who was accused of peeing on a woman co-passenger onboard an Air India flight has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days. Delhi's Patiala House court on Saturday sent Mishra to judicial custody till January 21 and said his bail hearing will take place on January 11. Police had asked for custody of Mishra for three days but the court denied the request saying police custody can't be granted without proper reasons. Mishra was arrested late on Friday night by the Delhi police from Bengaluru and was brought back to Delhi. Shankar Mishra was on the run and a lookout notice or airport alert was put out to trace him. Wells Fargo, the company where Mishra was employed, terminated his services. Mishra served as the vice president of the India chapter of Wells Fargo, which is an American financial services entity, headquartered in California.
