The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted raids at 60 locations across the country to crack down on gangs and crime syndicates. The 60 locations include places in Delhi, National Capital Region, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. The NIA is conducting an investigation after the Delhi Police Special Cell registered two FIRs under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against 10 gangsters who belong to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, the Bambiha gang and the Neeraj Bawana gang. This comes a day after Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said that there is a strong nexus between terror groups and the gangsters arrested in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case. He had said that the ISI was exploiting this nexus. The NIA had planned to uproot the entire networks of the NCR-based gangsters. There were names of around ten to twelve gangsters in the NIA list against whom action was decided. The gangsters operating gangs in the national capital have apparently formed two 'Mahagathbandhans' to run their crime syndicates smoothly. They are trying to set up a pan India network. The Mahagathbandhan of gangsters has created havoc in many states and they are also indulging in gang wars. The NIA geared up to uproot the networks of these gangsters.
