The Special Monitoring Unit of Bihar Police has lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Bihar cadre Indian Police Service officer Amit Lodha, who came to limelight after the web series "Khakee" based on his book “Bihar Diaries” was released. According to the complaint filed by the Economic Offences Wing of the Bihar Police, Lodha made a deal with the production house Friday Story Teller while he was serving as an IPS officer. His deal with the production house was allegedly worth Re 1. But cops claim there was a transaction of Rs 49 lakh in his wife's account. Some of the money in the wife's account was deposited even before the deal with the production house was finalised, sources in the police said.
"Despite being a government servant, the then Magadh range inspector general, Amit Lodha illegally entered into private/commercial activities with Netflix and Friday Story Teller Private Limited, a company that produced Khakee web series," the FIR stated. "In order to earn illicitly and to convert the black money into white, he used a book ‘Bihar Diary’ written by him for [the] production of a web series ‘Khakee the Bihar chapter’ by resorting to illegal activities," the FIR stated further. The web series 'Khakee: The Bihar Chapter" is the story of how a police officer manages to nab a dreaded gangster who had created a reign of terror in Bihar's Sheikhpura district. The show is based on a book, Bihar Diaries, written by Lodha himself. "Amit Lodha is not an established story writer neither he was authorised nor permitted to write book and use same for commercial purpose," states the complaint.
