One more senior officer has been arrested while accepting bribe. The CBI on Tuesday has apprehended Sandeep, Deputy Controller of Accounts, working as Internal Financial Advisor (IFA), in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, New Delhi, in a bribery case. According to CBI Statement, the accused Sandeep demanded an undue advantage of Rs. 15,00,000 from the complainant for processing the file expeditiously. And after negotiation, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs. 10,00,000 from the complainant to process the renewal file for the private company’s contract, which was pending before him.
As per the statement,the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused for accepting a bribe of Rs 10 Lakh through his wife. Sandeep has also been apprehended. He is a 2020 batch ICAS officer. The CBI registered a case on August 18 against Sandeep. Last week, the CBI had arrested seven Indian Railway officers in alleged bribery cases.
