CBI arrests its own Inspector for demanding a bribe of Rs2 crore

The CBI has arrested its own Inspector Deepak Fhalswal, posted at Delhi, for demanding a bribe of Rs 2 crore. He was arrested on a complaint forwarded by the south district Police. According to CBI Spokesperson, the CBI registered the case on the allegations that the accused inspector demanded bribe from a private person Shubham Mishra for not taking action in a complaint against him allegedly registered in CBI. He has been arrested,” a CBI spokesperson said in a statement. The Inspector threatened him by saying that a CBI case had been filed against him and demanded Rs2 crore  to settle the case. When Mishra refused, the inspector took Rs 50,000 up and then suggested to pay the amount in instalment of Rs75,000 per month. 
The complainant informed the police that someone was coming to collect the money on behalf of Inspector Deepak. Police detained a law student named Raja who had come to collect the money. Later that night, Deepak himself arrived at the farmhouse and was brought to the police station. Deepak initially claimed that he was only helping his friend Sunny recover the loan. South District Police obtained verification regarding Deepak from CBI officers. Both Deepak and Sunny were questioned and later released with instructions to join the ongoing investigation.
The DCP of South District then forwarded this information, along with Shubham Mishra's complaint, to the CBI. The CBI registered a case on March 10 and arrested Inspector Deepak Fhalswal. The inspector was produced before a CBI court, and the court granted him two days' police remand for further investigation.
