Shah Rukh Khan is very good in off beat films. Other actors do it rarely.A brave actor !!

Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t leave any opportunity even to act in off beat films.
He never afraid, whether this will affect his commercial films. 
Dil Aashna Hain, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na, Ye Dil Hain Phir Bhi Hindustani, Paheli, Swadesh, Veer Zara, Chak De India, etc which are his best ‘art films.‘ 
Since he likes, he did.Never bothered about the fate of his films.

Even he obliged MF Hussain’s film ‘Gaj Gamini’ for two reasons; one - it was directed by MF Hussain. 
Secondly, ex PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had written a couple of poems and two songs of this film were based on these poems. He seems to have done the film for free. 
He did ‘chak de India’ as Salman Khan initially demanded Rs 5 crore as his fee to act, where the whole budget of the film was of Rs 3 crore only. Shah Rukh acted for free. 
He also seems to have errored at times. For example ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ was first offered to him but somehow he refused; it was Anil Kapoor’s luck to get that film and he is still acting in Hollywood films.

Shah Rukh thus lost his opportunity in working in a Hollywood film. 
But it doesn’t bother him much. 
What the other actors have to learn from him was that a role is a role; there is no distinction in a film whether it is off beat or so-called commercial.

Hridayanath Mangeshkar’s music is so melodious.
This film was a treat to watch.
Based on Gustave Flaubert’s novel ‘Madame Bovary’ the movie is a class apart.
Film was picturized by the great director Ketan Mehta who directed his wife Deepa Sahi in this film.
