Aryan Khan sent to NCB custody till October 7 in drugs case

A Mumbai court on Monday sent Aryan Khan, the son on actor Shah Rukh Khan, in custody of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) till October 7. The 23-year-old was arrested by the NCB after a raid at a cruise ship on Saturday where the agency suspected drugs were being exchanged.

The court also sent two of Khan's friends - Arbaz Alam and Munmun Dhamecha - in custody till Thursday. 

Aryan Khan has been accused of purchase and possession of banned substances and is already under NCB remand, which was ending today. His lawyer Satish Maneshinde opposed the central agency's plea stating that Khan was invited to the cruise as a guest. Maneshinde further said that Aryan Khan didn't even have a boarding pass.

He was booked under 8C, 20, 27,&35 of the NDPS Act. On Monday, total of nine people were arrested.

The NCB told the court that they have found WhatsApp chats on Aryan Khan's mobile phone which show he was involved in selling and purchase of drugs. They also claimed that the young man was in touch with peddlers.

The agency sought further custody of Aryan Khan emphasising that more investigation is needed to understand the alleged nexus.

Maneshinde, meanwhile, opposed the plea, saying the agency can't seek extension based only on WhatsApp chats. The lawyer also said that Khan was never involved in drug-related transactions and that no substance was found on him.
