India recorded its highest-ever annual Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflow of USD 94.53 billion in 2025-26, while cumulative FDI inflows from FY 2014-15 to FY 2025-26 reached USD 843 billion, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said on Friday.Goyal made the remarks while marking the 12th anniversary of the Make in India initiative, which was launched on September 25, 2014, with a focus on strengthening India's manufacturing capabilities and attracting investment.
According to Goyal, the country has seen significant progress in manufacturing and investment over the past 12 years, supported by measures including FDI liberalisation, Ease of Doing Business reforms, industrial infrastructure development and Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes.As of March 31, 2026, the PLI schemes had resulted in actual investments of Rs 2.40 lakh crore, while production and sales stood at Rs 23.8 lakh crore. The schemes also generated exports worth Rs 15.2 lakh crore and created more than 14.6 lakh direct and indirect jobs.

The sectors that have benefited significantly from the PLI schemes include electronics and telecom, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, automobiles, IT hardware and speciality steel.Goyal also highlighted the development of industrial infrastructure through the National Industrial Corridor Development Programme, which aims to create greenfield industrial smart cities and strengthen manufacturing ecosystems across the country.He further pointed to the growth of the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), noting that more than 470 crore orders have been placed through the platform.
According to Goyal, the progress made under Make in India has also contributed to greater confidence among startups, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, innovators and exporters.He noted that the country's manufacturing and investment growth would support the broader vision of building a developed India, or Viksit Bharat, by 2047.
